What is holding you back from your next adventure?
For me, it was finding people to go with since I did not think I could do adventure alone as a 5ft petite girly. The societal opinions and internal monologue of doubt and constant insinuation of something “bad” happening riddled me with fear. I kept (keep) hearing the same loop of conversations.
Woman (me) traveling alone: “Aren’t you afraid”, “do you have pepper spray”, “you have to be careful at all times”, “you shouldn’t go, you need to invite friends”.
Man traveling alone: “Wow, you are going to have so much fun”, “you are going to meet a cute girl”, “you are going to have the best time”, “you’re going to learn so much about yourself”.
To be clear, the concept of safety while traveling solo is universal, regardless of gender. However, my experiences as a solo female traveler have specific challenges and realities.
