Bread, Olive Oil, and the Art of Everyday Italy
Curated in Color
I scurry up onto a rock, trying to see over the bobbing heads gathered near the railing.
A wave crashes against the cliff, sending up a spray of salty sea mist. It’s sunset now, and a golden glow begins to glisten across the water, the sea shimmering in deep hues of orange and yellow. I stand on a rock to take in the full panoramic view as it opens into the iconic rainbow town, Cinque Terre.
The famous pastel villages clinging to rugged cliffs, stacked like a watercolor dream along the Italian coast. A couple in front of me clinks their glasses, pouring wine for one another as they pause to savor the moment.
Italy feels like magic captured in a bottle, where every moment is meant to be slowly cherished.
My family is Italian, and visiting them feels like stepping into a film—every experience infused with an unexplainable vibrance, even in the smallest, most intimate moments of daily life. From dipping a piece of bread into olive oil, to sitting for hours around the dinner table lost in conversation, to wandering narrow alleyways and discovering architectural wonders, its true magic. During my time in Italy, I felt inspired and began creating color palettes drawn from everyday life and its quiet beauty.
